Some thoughts...
I always say to my students that education is power. Not power over people or things, but the power to do with your life whatever compels you, inspires you, drives you, and what you love. I want every student to leave my classroom ready to embrace that power. I want them to leave my classroom a life-long learner. Not the necessarily the math whiz or next physicist, but someone who is inspired to learn more about SOMETHING. SOMETHING that drives them and makes them whole. If they leave my classroom with these skills, I will be a happy teacher. Along with being life-long learners, I want my students to learn to take risks academically, be ready to be active members of their community, and ready to face the world with values.
